Gary é ecologista consultor, Chartered Environmentalist, membro do instituto de Ecology and Environmental Management, diretor do Green Infrastructure Consultancy, orientador de teses em Bartlett Faculty of Built Environment na University College London e autor de Green Roof and Facades (BRE Press 2006), Ecosystem Services Come to Town - Greening cities by working with nature (Wiley 2012) e The Water Sensitive City (Wiley 2016). Conta com projetos como o Plano de Ação para a Biodiversidade no Parque Olímpico de Londres, Whitehill-Bordon Eco Town, Lend Lease HQ Roof Garden, Westfield living wall, Natural History Museum Wildlife Garden, Education City, Qatar e Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.
